“It’s lights out and away we go.” That was the energy in the room for a recent episode of Top of the Grid, the racing podcast presented by Amber Jones, filmed at Patch Twickenham. The original podcast room there just wasn’t quite big enough for what they wanted to do, so we stepped in with our mobile setup and turned one of the larger open spaces into a proper multi camera studio for the day. We filmed the full episode, handled the edit afterwards, and also pulled out a set of short clips for LinkedIn so the client could get more use out of the content. For the shoot itself, we ran three Sony Cinema Line cameras. That gave us a nice mix of wide shots, close ups for each speaker, and natural cutaways as the conversation flowed. Everything was recorded with clean audio through a dedicated podcast setup, so the final result felt polished but still natural. This is a good example of how podcast filming in London doesn’t always need a studio. With the right setup, you can turn almost any space into something that looks and sounds broadcast-ready, even in a busy co-working environment.

This is the first episode of the Protocol Blue podcast series and it features The Viscount Camrose, Jonathan William Berry, a current member of the House of Lords. Using a three-camera setup, we explored his time as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and his thoughts on the rise of AI, from the exciting benefits to the challenges society might face. We captured every angle on video and recorded all the audio for the podcast, making sure it sounded as good as it looked.
