They say a change is as good as a rest so our last video project with Walton on Thames based wood manufacturer Snabla definitely helped us to recharge our creative batteries. Snabla is run by Gary Albans and specialises in making bespoke products made from wood for a variety of purposes. Snabla carries about 50 unique product lines and ships all over world.

Gary contacted us because he required some fresh promotional video content that could be used on Instagram and Facebook to drive brand awareness and showcase the traditional carpentry techniques and equipment that he uses to create his products.

With over 1 Billion active users and 400 million consumers of stories per day Instagram presents a fantastic opportunity for brands to promote their products and services. And with 30% of users saying that they purchased a product that they saw on Instagram, businesses who are not taking advantage of the platform could be missing out and losing customers to their competitors.

Our challenge is always to create memorable, unique and engaging video content for our clients as the social media video landscape is highly saturated. The videos range from professionally captured/edited 4k productions to DIY videos that have been captured on a mobile phone. So how do we make our client’s video stand out from the crowd?

For this shoot we chose to get up close and personal to the subject so opted for using a Sony 30mm Macro lens. By using a Macro lens we were able to capture some intricate detail shots that a normal lens wouldn’t have been able to thus giving the video uniqueness. We also shot the piece in slow motion at a shallow depth of field giving it a warm vintage feel in parts.
